Santa Barbara Film Feast

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival has partnered with over 30 restaurants to create a watching/dining synergy.  Check out a film (they run from about 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day) and then head to lunch or dinner at, say, Pierre Lafond Wine Bistro where a 3-course dinner is available for $40.  Shorter 2-course and longer 4-course menus are also available at Film Feast participating restaurants such as Ca’Dario, Downey’s, El Paseo, Olio e Limone, Seagrass, and Wine Cask. Safire Sunday Dinners

On Sunday nights, Safire in Camarillo is serving a 3-course meal for $25.  It begins with soup or salad.  Entree is a New York strip steak or 6-ounce lobster tail.  And dessert is vanilla-bean panna cotta with berries.  Coffee is included.

Bernard’s Wine Gallery Dinner

Bernard’s Wine Gallery in Calabasas is throwing a wine dinner (or grazing, really) around California cult classics like the 2004 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet.  All of the wines being poured for the night are listed here.  Dishes include oysters Rockefeller, Maryland crab cake, wild mushroom risotto, prosciutto-wrapped breadstick, cheese plate, and assorted pastries.  The price is $329 per person.

Lunch at Charlie’s

Charlie’s restaurant in Malibu will be opening for lunch as of Monday, January 31st.  “Our customers have been requesting lunch for a while” says owner Charlie DiLorenzo.  So from Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. regulars and everyone else can order items like lobster spring rolls with mustard sauce, chopped salad, grilled cheese sandwich with Manchego and queso fresco, and the Charlie Burger.  The popular pizzas from the dinner menu will make a showing, along with pastas.  For the month of February, every lunch patron will receive a complimentary plate of home-baked cookies (except on Valentine’s Day).

Stolpman Vineyard Dinner

Saddle Peak Lodge in Calabasas is hosting Stolpman Vineyards for a 5-course wine dinner with dishes like maple-glazed boar tenderloin and bitter chocolate with cherries.  The whole menu can be viewed here.  The prices is $95.

Congrats to Tierra Sur

Tierra Sur in Oxnard racked up a huge 27 rating for food from the latest Zagat Survey for Los Angeles.  Here’s the text of that stellar review:

Yes, “fine dining can be kosher”, as shown by chef Todd Aarons (Zuni Cafe in SF) and his “amazing”, dairy-free Med cuisine at this “upscale” outpost within the Herzog winery; it may seem “out of place in industrial Oxnard”, but the sunny setting, “delightful” vinos and “helpful” staff come as a “very pleasant surprise”; N.B. closed Friday night and Saturday.
