California Beer Festival
Saturday, September 18th, noon - 5 p.m.

Mission Park in downtown Ventura will be the site of this year’s California Beer Festival. Sample over 100 beers on tap and taste entries in the BBQ cookoff competition. Tickets are $40 each. Must be 21 or older to attend. (That’s not a problem for most foodies–am I right?)
Ladyface does Football

Beginning Sunday, September 12th, Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie will open at 10 a.m. in order to broadcast Sunday morning football games. Coffee and a small brunch menu will be on offer to help you swallow your pride should your favorite team perform badly.
Flamenco and Paella at Jonathan’s
Sunday, September 12th, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Jonathan’s at Peirano’s in downtown Ventura is cooking up plenty of their delicious paella on Sunday night in honor of the flamenco dance performance by Pacific Action.

A three-course paella menu will be available for the night. You can see it here.
Fox Sports Grill - Menu News
Fox Sports Grill in Westlake Village has added some new items to its menu of sporty snacks and entrees. The new OMG! Burger weighs in at a hefty 3 lbs. and is served on a giant Kaiser bun with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickles and American cheese. It will set you back $28.50. That price is NOT a typo.
Cheaper eats appear at the new happy hours, Monday - Friday from 4-7 p.m. and again from 9 p.m. - closing. All appetizers like the blue cheese chips and the chili are half price. Domestic draft beer and well drinks are $3.50.
Sol Food Festival Preview Events
The first annual Sol Food Festival will take place in Santa Barbara’s Plaza de Vera Cruz Park on Saturday, October 2nd. Before the actual festival, some fundraising events will be taking place.
Friday, September 10th, 6:30 p.m. - Samy’s Camera at 614 Chapala Street in Santa Barbara will screen the film “Locavore” and set up a produce stand stocked with backyard harvests. The outdoor film screening is free. Sales from the produce stand will benefit Sol Food. You can see a trailer for the film here.
Monday, September 13th - Julienne restaurant in Santa Barbara is hosting a 5-course dinner paired with wines to benefit Sol Food. There will be only be 10 spots at this table. The price is $100.
Paulette Lambert on Dr. Oz Show

Thursday, September 9th at 5 p.m., repeating Friday, September 10th at 11 a.m.

Paulette Lambert, RD, CDE, the Director of Nutrition for the California Health & Longevity Institute in Westlake Village is appearing on the Dr. Oz show on Thursday. Paulette and Mehmet will discuss which food options will encourage a good night’s sleep. The show airs on Fox 11 KTTV in our area.
McGrath Farm Dinner
Sunday, September 5th changed to October 3rd , 5:30 p.m.
McGrath Family Farm is hosting a dinner and farm tour on Sunday. The three-course dinner will be prepared by the chefs from Main Course California. The meal begins with a 3-bean cassoulet. Entree choices include braised beef with cippolini onions, turnips, squash and rapini or chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and a tomato chutney. You can see the entire menu here. Casa Barranca winery will be pouring its organic wines for the night. The price is $150 per person. Part of the proceeds will benefit Ventura FoodShare.
