Fleming’s Summer Menu Deal
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is offering a Summer Prix-Fixe Menu from now until September 21st. It’s a three-course deal for $36. Scotch & Sirloin Early-Bird Dinner
If you’re able to eat dinner sometime between 4 and 5:30 p.m. (Sunday through Thursday nights), you can get a 3-course meal at Scotch & Sirloin in the Ventura Harbor for $15. The meal starts with soup. Then you choose either grilled salmon or prime rib for your entree. Dessert is either a scoop of ice cream or a slice of chocolate cake.

Eric’s New England Shore Dinner
Every Friday and Saturday night from now until the end of August, Eric’s Restaurant & Bar in the Palm Garden Hotel will be putting on a New England Shore Dinner. The feats costs $30 per person and includes clam chowder, Maine lobster, steamed clams, boiled potatoes, and corn on the cob served family-style. It’s a good excuse to get your grub on for the next month or so.

Piatti Montecito Turns 20
Piatti in Montecito is celebrating being in business for 20 years this summer. A series of fundraisers is scheduled to commemorate the anniversary. Tierra Sur Farm Dinner
Thursday, July 23rd, 7 p.m.

Tierra Sur Restaurant at Herzog Wine Cellars is hosting a farmer’s dinner featuring Phil McGrath of McGrath Farms. He’ll speak about sustainable farming while chef Todd Aarons prepares a four-course meal using his produce. Herzog’s “certified sustainable” wines will be paired with the dinner which will include an Ahi tuna Nicoise, a duck consomme with young dandelion greens, and a braised veal dish with baby beets, pearl onions and Swiss chard. The price is $70.

Sushi Ko Closing
Sushi Ko Japanese Restaurant in The Lakes mall in Thousand Oaks is closing in early August. They’ve been in The Lakes for four years after a successful 25-year run in Bel-Air. In a last-ditch effort to keep the restaurant open, Sushi Ko’s owners Akiro Hatae and his wife Lisa Hatae agreed to appear on Gordom Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. The episode will air on Fox sometime in September even though the restaurant will be gone by then. The Hataes are looking for a different Conejo Valley location to do business in sometime in the future. In the meantime, they would like to thank all their guests over the last four years who have supported them by saying, “eat healthy, be happy, peace.”

Sunday Brunch at Safire
Safire American Bistro in Camarillo has begun serving Sunday Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Chef Michael Muirhead is cooking up dishes like a French-toasted croissant, omelettes, a Moroccan-grilled chicken salad, oysters on the half-shell, a bistro burger, baked Australian lobster tail, and a molten chocolate lava cake. Me-n-Ed’s Pizzeria Reopens
Wednesday, July 22nd, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
On July 22nd, Me-n-Ed’s Pizzeria reopens under new owner Mike Manucharyan, who also owns two more locations of the California chain in Camarillo and Oxnard. To celebrate the day, Me-n-Ed’s will give 40% of the proceeds from all large and family-size pizzas to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club Moorpark. Me-n-Ed’s specializes in brick-oven-baked sandwiches and pizzas like the Hot Hawaiian and the Valley Veggie.

Taste & Buy Wine Party at Jonathan’s
Thursday, July 16th, 6-8 p.m.
Jason Collis has gathered a group of vintners to his restaurant, Jonathan’s at Pierano’s in Ventura, to crack open cases of their wares and sell them at wholesale prices. You can get in on the fun by dropping by anytime between 6 and 8 p.m. to sip your way through wines from California, Italy, and Spain. Collis will provide complimentary tapas. The price is $10.

Sake Master at Kabuki
July 16th, 6:30-7:30 p.m. and 8:30-9:30 p.m. sessions
Kabuki Japanese Restaurant in Woodland Hills is throwing a Sake Night featuring Master Sake Sommolier Yuji Matsumoto. Matsumoto will offer sake tips, bits of sake history, and hand-crafted sake cocktails. He will also conduct two blind tastings, one at 6:30 and one at 7:30 p.m. Chef Masa Kurihara will prepare food to go with all this sake. Tickets to the tasting are $25 each, or $40 per couple, or $20 each for groups of three or more.

Summer BBQ at The Pierpont Inn

The Pierpont Inn in Ventura is throwing a BBQ on its bluff overlooking the ocean every Thursday night throughout the summer (until October). They’ll be cooking up tri-tip dinners for $12, hamburgers for $6, and hot dogs for $6. Kids 6 and under can eat for $3. There will also be drink specials like house wine and beer on tap for $3. BG’s Cafe Award
BG’s Cafe in downtown Oxnard has won the 2009 Downtown Business of the Year from the Greater Oxnard Chamber of Commerce. The coffee shop serving breakfast and lunch is owned by Jose Rodriguez and Veronica Munoz. The couple took over the 40-year-old BG’s Coffee Shop & Deli, renamed it, and updated the menu.
